Lisa, a co-founder of PyLadies Calgary and organizer of the first-ever PyLadiesCon, presents "Python Adventures for the Neuro-Spicy." In this talk, she shares her journey as a neurodivergent person learning Python and emphasizes the importance of understanding neurodiversity in education. She explains neurodivergence, contrasting it with neurotypicality, and outlines challenges neurodivergent learners face, such as sensory issues, attention variance, executive dysfunction, and overwhelm. Lisa offers strategies like breaking down concepts, visual learning, organizing tasks, and creating supportive environments. She highlights the strengths of neurodivergent individuals, such as creativity and hyperfocus, and encourages using gamification and community support to enhance learning.
